ส่วนขยายของ OpenOffice.org
OpenOffice.org ได้กำหนดส่วนขยาย (File Extension) ให้กับแฟ้มเอกสารแต่ละประเภทดังนี้

หลักการจำ File Extention :: od ย่อมาจาก OpenDocument และอักขระตัวที่สามจะมาจากประเภทของโปรแกรม เช่นแฟ้มเอกสารจากโปรแกรมสร้างเอกสารงานพิมพ์ จะใช้ตัว t ที่มาจากคำว่า Text แฟ้มเอกสารจากโปรแกรมสร้างสื่อนำเสนอ จะใช้ตัว p ที่มาจากคำว่า Presentation แฟ้มเอกสารแผ่นงานคำนวณ จะใช้ตัว s ที่มาจากคำว่า Spreadsheet นอกจากนี้ยังมีเอกสารแม่แบบ ซึ่งจะใช้ตัวย่อว่า ot ที่มาจากคำว่า OpenTemplate
